Access Statements

Introduction

The Old Rectory of St James offers Guest accommodation and meals. It has four letting rooms on the first floor. The Dining Room/Lounge and the Breakfast Room are on the ground floor.

Pre-Arrival

We have email facilities with standard fonts.

We have a basic website – text size can be changed through your browser

The nearest train station is 2 miles away.

Bus services: There is a bus stop 10 minutes walk away and buses go every 30 minutes to Telford Town Centre Bus Station.

Local taxis are operating, which we can book for you.

Brochures and Menus can be provided with prior notice.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

Car Parking is off road with ample space on a gravel surface.
Drop off is possible from the drive at the front door (with one step).

There is outside lighting operated by a movement sensor
We assist guests with luggage from car to room.

Main Entrance, Reception & Hall

There is one step of approx 75mm height from the drive to the ground floor level of the entrance Porch
A bell push is at the front door, which is always locked.
The front door is 1000mm wide
The entrance is well lit externally and internally.
Writing material is available on arrival.
Seating is available in the entrance hall which is 6m long 3m wide.
The layout of the facilities is explained and demonstrated on arrival.
The Hallway floor is tiled.

Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc

The bedrooms on the first floor are accessed by a wide set of stairs with one handrail which turns twice at right angles. Two bedrooms are off the large landing. Two rooms are off the Landing and down four steps and further along a smaller corridor (1000mm wide).
The Stairs and Landing have a short pile carpet.
There is a total of 20 stairs to the first floor, 1000 mm wide with a handrail on the left hand side going up.
The door from the Hallway to the Breakfast Room is 1000mm wide.

Public Areas – Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc

Breakfast is served in the Breakfast room on the ground floor.

Evening Meals can be served in the Guest Lounge or in the Breakfast room
There are two dining tables and up to ten chairs.
The tables have an under space of 700mm high. There are chairs with or without arms which can be moved to accommodate.
Menus are provided in standard print.
The Dining Room/Lounge has a short pile carpet with rugs.

The Breakfast Room is part carpet part tiled floor.

Night lights are on the first floor landing and ground floor Hallways – each has a removeable battery operated torch

Public WCs

Bedrooms are en suite/private but no public WC available.

Bedrooms

Bedrooms are all carpeted. Each ensuite/private bathroom has a vinyl floor covering.

Note: Bathrooms do not have any fixed grab rails or hoists.

However, a removeable rail with suction pads is available for the duration of your stay and can be fixed to suit your needs.

Each Bedroom and all public areas have fire detectors. Please tell us if you cannot hear a fire alarm.

A battery operated torch is in every bedroom.

Additional Information

Wheelchair access is possible to all areas of the public ground floor areas.

Smoking is not permitted in the house.
We have a fridge available for food and/or medicines on request.
Gluten free and/or dairy free diets are catered for with prior notice.
Service dogs welcome – the garden can be used for exercise

There is a paved, level, 1000mm wide path leading to patio/sitting area at the top of the lawns/garden.
